An End to Breeding

Due to the economy, I have made the decision to discontinue our breeding program. There are several reasons for this. The horse market is terrible. Horses are selling for a fraction of what they were. With so many people struggling financially, the number of abandoned and neglected horses is surging. I have choosen not to add to the trouble by producing more horses.

Disposing of unwanted horses can be difficult. Euthansia is expensive. Shelters won't take them. The option of sending them to slaughter has been taken away from horses owners by politicians and laypeople. Many are abandoned at auctions, forcing the auction producers to dispose of them at their own expense. Education is the key, and the first way to reduce the number of unwanted horses is to cease to add to them.

I thank everyone who has supported Gray Stone Stables through the years, and everyone who has bought my horses. Ride safely.

Keekays Peppy

Of course, we still have our stallion, Keekays Peppy. He will continue to stand at Gray Stone Stables, and is available to outside mares throughout the breeding season.
